Alicia Sometimes

Today I resolved
’I don’t care about looks’
with my gel pen
weighing heavy in my hand.

Does anyone else have one of these?
A pen that is so comfortable to hold
but impossible to write with.
I bet Ginsberg had one.
That’s why he’s soulful and sour.
It’s the writer’s dilemma,
like the fact that
I read too much and write too little.

I told you
and you said,
‘A pen made of lead
is probably a pencil.’

You don’t understand.
I bet alicia sometimes would.
You know…
the girl who should have the nom de plume
alicia-every-fucking-way-i-turn.
She’s on the radio
and the cover
of every cool anthology in this city.

I want to sleep with her.
Her smiling face would buy my entry
into every writers guild
in the Southern Hemisphere.

Today I resolved,
’I don’t care about looks’
so long as you’re
alicia sometimes.
