Here's a collection of questions I've either predicted someone will ask, or have already been directed my way in the last few years. Please check this collection before you e-mail me regarding something here.

What is "The Jay an Maz Show"?
"The Jay and Maz Show" is a collection of incidents surrounding the tertiary education of James and Amanda, an echidna and dingo. It ran for three years (2003-2005) in the monthly student publication Crossfire as full page episodes where I crammed in as much as possible until I learnt that I needed to actually make it legible. It wasn't always on time, too. Jay and Maz started out as guides to University life but gave up when they decided no one was paying them for it.

Jay and Maz (and most of their supporting cast) live in Melbourne, Australia. References to trams, Centrelink, spelling colour with a "u" and any other cultural references will pop up. If I have to put up with my TV whining about New Yorkers, then you can put up with me bitching about Centrelink. But I'll try to keep most jokes globally understandable.

What is Crossfire?
Crossfire is the student publication for Deakin University Student Association and further info can be found here. I also cut my design teeth working on the layout of the rag in 2004 and half of 2005. But then I quit being a student there.

Where can I find the Crossfire episodes?
Here. All archivy and stuff.

Two strips a week? Ripped Off!
Yes. Two a week. If it takes off I might be able to spend a bit more time on it (I'd seriously love to) but I can't afford to right now. Same reason it's in black and white... Actually, it will probably stay black and white, I've grown used to it like that.

Is there any continuity or story?
No, well, yes in the sense that what happens stays happened. I leave real plot for other projects. It follows a loose timeline, but as of yet there are no major events outside of one strip jokes. Again, this takes a bit more time that I don't have, and Jay and Maz was never meant to take itself seriously. So nyah.

Are the characters based on anyone real?
Not on purpose.

Are Jay and Maz... Y'know...?
No.

But th--?
No.

Who is "Davo"?
Davo is me. Obviously. But I've gotten this question a fair bit before. I grew up in a country town (I can show you the scars) where, like most places in the big brown land of Australia, any name is eventually abbreviated and suffixed with an "o". Therefore, according to the Ballan primary School Principal, Nathan Davis = Davo. When I grew a little and realised I couldn't be arsed filling out Nathan Davis on every drawing, I picked Davo. Odd considering it seems to be symbolic of the yobbo culture I stand against and have employed hordes of ninjas to destroy. Yes, that was all far too long winded.

Will you draw me a picture of insert name here?
Sorry. No comissions. I do not have the time for it.

How do you draw the comic?
With a pencil. A mechanical pencil. And tech pens. Lots of tech pens. On an A3 sheet of paper. And then I scan it. No I lie. I make offerings to Plorgul, God of inane speech bubbles and cliche facial expressions, leave the drawing pad, blank, on my desk. Then I go to sleep, wake again in the morning and find that he has DONE NOTHING AND I'VE GOT AN HOUR LEFT! Then I draw it and post it three days late.
